The iPhone 15 is a few months away with a difference of two months to go, but the excitement is already going through the roof.

iPhone 15: The Limelight Of The Year

Circulating rumors claim Apple will continue with four models in 2023: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Ultra (speculated to replace the Pro Max model) all in similar sizes to the previous iPhone 14 series – two for 6.1-inch size and other two for 6.7-inch size.

Talking about rumors, it ain’t finished yet and there’s more to discuss. So, it’s high time we deep dive into our comprehensive overview covering all the rumored features to check if its truly a game-changer or just hype.

All-Inclusive Rumored Features

Recalling iPhone 14, it brought some nice changes in 2022, but we are expecting much bigger things from iPhone 15 this time such as USB-C in place of a lightning port, 5G Qualcomm modem chip, upgraded RAM, enlarged batteries, and more!

All-Inclusive iPhone 15 Rumored Features

Excitement is high and speculation is flooding the market as the iPhone 15 is gonna launch this September 2023. So keeping this in mind, let’s not waste your time and straightly delve into an extensive overview.

iPhone 15 – Release Date Rumors

According to MacRumors, “The iPhone 15 models will likely be released in September 2023 if Apple follows its traditional September launch timeline”

iPhone 15 - Release Date Rumors

Of all the early rumors, a release date is the easiest to predict as the iPhone 14 got its launch on September 7, Wednesday, 2022, and was released to the whole public nine days later on September 16, Friday, 2022.

If Apple sticks to its September launch plan, we could see a September unveiling for the iPhone 15, likely launching on September 6 with a release date of September 15 – until someone convinces us otherwise.

Price Speculation

There is no official news on the iPhone 15 price just yet. No price increase has been rumored for the standard iPhone 15 models. Most likely, prices are going to remain the same with the standard 6.1-inch iPhone 15, selling for $799, and the 6.7-inch selling either at $899 or $999.

iPhone 15 - Price Speculation

But for higher-end pro models, it’s not the case. iPhone 15 Pro models are gonna get more expensive compared to earlier iPhone 14 Pro versions. According to analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 15 Pro is expected to sell for $1,099 and the Pro Max or Ultra to sell for a starting price at $1,199 or $1299

Here’s a recap of all the rumored prices of the latest iPhone 15:

iPhone 15: $799

iPhone 15 Plus: Either $899 or $999, a rumored price bracket

iPhone 15 Pro: $1099

iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ultra: Either $1199 or $1299, a speculated price bracket

What’s New in iPhone 15 Design?

What’s new in iPhone 15 design, are we gonna see any iPhone 15 differences this time? Let’s check them out!

Rumors suggest the iPhone 15 models will look almost similar to the iPhone 14 models with little tweaks and a more curved body design giving a smooth feel while adopting the Dynamic Island to its whole iPhone series.

What's New in iPhone 15 Design?

However, there will be no substantial changes in the iPhone 15 series, and Apple is to continue with four models – iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Pro for 6.1-inch, and iPhone 15 Max & iPhone 15 Pro Max for 6.7-inch.

Following the iPhone 14 case, premium features will only be limited to “pro” models at the cost of extra price, while the general features for standard iPhone 15 models at an affordable price.

Apple will switch from a Lightning port to a USB-C port and transit to the Dynamic Island for all the latest iPhone 15 models.

Besides Dynamic Island, all four iPhone 15 models are rumored to use an OLED display driver chip that’s more power-efficient and manufactured on a 28nm process, allowing for reduced power consumption and improved battery life.

iPhone 15 Pro – Exclusive Designs

Although all iPhone 15 models are to adopt the USB-C charging port, some design changes are exclusive to the Pro models only.

Speculations circulating in the market suggest iPhone 15 Pro models will feature more thin, rounded bezels in comparison to the iPhone 14 Pro models. However, the standard iPhone 15 will look similar to the iPhone 14 with flat corners, a glass-made front and back, and an aluminum frame.

Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro lineup is speculated to feature more rounded front glass that better disappears into the frame, and titanium chassis instead of stainless steel.

iPhone 15 – Color Variants

The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could be available in dark pink and light blue colors. Apple often designs its basic iPhone in a variety of bright colors – this year is no exception too.

iPhone 15 - Color Variants

The bright pink and blue shades are likely to be available alongside standard black, white, and product (RED) color options.

Frosted Glass Back – Available to All Four Models

An unconfirmed rumor from Weibo has suggested that the iPhone 15 models could feature a frosted glass back, which has previously been a design detail that Apple has limited to the Pro models. Standard models typically have a glossy black, while frosted glass is reserved for the more expensive models.

If accurate, both the standard iPhone 15 models and the iPhone 15 Pro models will use frosted glass for the back of the device.

Case Fit – Older Cases Won’t Fit Well Owing To Small Changes In The Dimensions

A set of 3D printed iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models offers some insight into how prior-generation iPhone 14 cases, the older cases won’t fit well with the new iPhones.

Owing to small tweaks in the dimensions of the iPhone 15 lineup, older cases won’t go well for the most part, though the iPhone 15 Plus can fit inside an iPhone 14 Plus cover case. The larger rear camera housing of the Pro models prevents iPhone 14 Pro cases from working properly, as does the more curved design and changes to the buttons.

No Touch ID – Rather Apple to Continue With Face ID

Though there have been ongoing rumors suggesting Apple has considered bringing Touch ID back to its flagship iPhones using an under-display solution, the iPhone 15 models are not expected to include Touch ID and will continue to use Face ID.

IPHONE 15-No Touch ID

Apple is working on an under-display Face ID feature, but it won’t be ready until 2025. Instead, in 2023, the iPhone 15 will continue to use Dynamic Island, which Apple is expected to expand to all models instead of just the Pro models.

Apple to Ditch the Lightning Port & Bring USB-C Port to its iPhone 15 Lineup

Apple is swapping the Lightning port on the iPhone 15 devices for a USB-C port, which will allow it to comply with new regulations implemented in Europe. These regulations require Apple to produce iPhones with USB-C ports in Europe, so Apple either needs to make a worldwide design swap or develop special iPhones for sale in Europe.

Looking into USB-C Data Transfer Speeds

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro models will support “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. With the upgrade, iPhone 15 Pro models would be able to transfer video and other file types at much quicker speeds. USB 2.0 transfer speeds are limited to 480Mb/s, while USB 3.2 supports speeds up to 20Gb/s. If Apple offers Thunderbolt 3 support for the iPhone 15 Pro models, data transfer speeds could be up to 40Gb/s.

Wireless Charging – Making You Independent of Charging Wires Now

Amazingly, Apple is going to use a wireless charging feature in its upcoming iPhone 15 lineup, giving you so much ease and getting rid of carrying charging wires or snakes wherever you go.

iphone 15- Wireless Charging

The iPhone 15 models will support both MagSafe charging and the new Qi2 standard, allowing for 15W charging from non-MagSafe third-party accessories. That will allow for faster wireless charging even from accessories that do not officially support MagSafe, as long as those accessories use Qi2.

Camera Updates – The Most Awaited Update for iPhone Lovers

iPhone lovers can understand how important it is for them to hear about any camera updates as the iPhone camera helps them to click high-class pics & quality video shots when they’re on the go without even carrying an expensive camera.

iphone 15-Camera Updates

Apple is expected to adopt Sony’s latest “state of the art” image sensors for the iPhone 15 models. Compared to standard sensors, Sony’s image sensor doubles the saturation signal in each pixel, allowing it to capture more light to cut down on underexposure and overexposure. The sensor will allow for improvements in portraits and other images even when strong backlighting is an issue.

New Periscope Lens – Enhanced Zoom for Pro Max Users

You’ve probably heard rumors about Apple’s plan to adopt a periscope zoom lens for the iPhone 15, but it will be limited to the larger-sized iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Pro will get a standard zoom lens, and the iPhone 15 models will be limited to the Wide and Ultra Wide lenses.

Periscope lens technology offers optical zoom capabilities that exceed those possible with a standard telephoto lens, allowing for 5x or even 10x optical zoom. With a periscope lens, the iPhone’s zoom capabilities would be significantly enhanced as the current Pro models are limited to 3x zoom.

5G Qualcomm Modem Chips – Available for Whole iPhone 15 Lineup

Apple will use Qualcomm’s 5G modem chips for the 2023 iPhone 15 lineup, as it has done since 5G iPhones were introduced. Rumors were suggesting that Apple could use its in-house modem chips as soon as 2023, but the technology won’t be ready until 2024 at the earliest.

All iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models will use the same Qualcomm modem chip, likely the X70. Qualcomm’s X70 chip offers improved AI for faster processing speeds, a better coverage range, improved signal, lower latency, and up to 60 percent improved power efficiency.

Bye-bye to the SIM Card Tray

Now you won’t see the classic SIM card tray in iPhones anymore as Apple iPhone 13 models were the last ones to use this feature. Apple with the launch of the iPhone 14 models removed the SIM card tray in devices sold in the United States. With the launch of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, the SIM tray could be removed in additional countries.

Bye-Bye to SIM Card Tray

Wi-Fi 6E Limited to iPhone Pro Models Only

Leaked iPhone 15 Wi-Fi chip diagrams confirm that Apple is upgrading to Wi-Fi 6E, but it is a feature that will be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature Wi-Fi 6E, but the standard iPhone 15 models will continue to use Wi-Fi 6.

Compared to Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E offers more bandwidth, providing faster connectivity speeds, lower latency, and increased capacity. Wi-Fi 6E provides 1.2GHz more spectrum in the 6GHz band, and it can support whole home gigabit coverage and multi-gigabit connectivity for venues, and it has the bandwidth for higher data streams like those used for AR and VR experiences.

A-Series Chips – iPhone 15 Pro Models Would be the First Ones to Feature It

The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to be the first to feature an A-series chip built on Apple supplier TSMC’s next-generation 3-nanometer node. 3nm chip technology is expected to increase processing performance by 10 to 15 percent, while also reducing power consumption by up to 35 percent.

The faster chips will be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will adopt the 4-nanometer A16 chip that was first used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

RAM – iPhone 15 Rumored to Bring RAM Improvements

According to a new report from Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, “the next-generation iPhone 15 series will feature RAM improvements.

We could see improvements to both RAM and speeds across the iPhone 15 series, but no specific details were shared from any source so far.

RAM - iPhone 15 Rumored

iPhone 15 Pro models are likely to be upgraded to 8GB of RAM, while the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus remain at 6GB RAM, which is the same amount of RAM used in the iPhone 14 series. But there’s a high possibility that these standard iPhones will upgrade to faster LPDDR5 RAM.

The comparison between the previous iPhone models including the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone 11 is pretty insane. Now, as the iPhone 15 is about to hit the market, we can predict the heat in the upcoming months.

Conclusion

Finally, Apple will swap the lightning port with a USB-C port, bring upgrades to RAM, new and unique camera updates, 5G Qualcomm modem chips, a periscope zoom lens, and more.

Notably, there’ll be a healthy divide between the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 specs – similar to the iPhone 14 lineup, premium features will only be reserved for Pro models to make the extra spent dollars worth it.

Long story short, there are a lot more interesting upgrades coming this fall and we’ve made our best efforts to cover all of them in our comprehensive overview.

However, nothing is official yet, but here’s everything we know so far about the next-gen iPhone 15 from multiple credible rumors.
